Picture yourself in a tropical paradise photographing an almost unlimited variety of flowers, mammals, reptiles, amphibians and birds; not to mention palm-lined beaches on the Pacific Ocean and wet and semi-wet tropical rainforest. The Osa Peninsula is unspoiled Costa Rica at it's best. Located at the southwest corner of the country the Osa Peninsula offers one of the last unspoiled true tropical rainforests in Central America. Our safari will take us to the end of the road on the west coast of the Osa. The Lookout Inn, our home for the week, is situated overlooking the pacific ocean with the rainforest to your back. A unique opportunity to photograph in three distinct environments within just a few minutes of each other.
Your Costa Rica photo safari includes: fully guided hikes, with knowledgeable local guides, in the park or on any number of local trails in the surrounding rainforest to locate some of the forests shy creatures as well as spotting some of the often overlooked creatures that inhabit the forest floor. We'll also be out at night, that's right, night, when the jungle comes alive. A evening excursion to the local frog pond is sure to turn up the Red-eyed Tree Frog, the symbol of Costa Rica. Each morning we'll start the day off on the beach for sunrise and the ever present brown pelicans as they glide along the crest of the waves. And new during our 2013 safari and we'll be including it in 2014, kayaking on the local lagoon for some unbelievable bird photography!
The June safari will feature not only what's already been mentioned but, 6 species of tree frogs during their breeding season, sea turtles beginning to come ashore, the fruit trees will be loaded with birds and monkeys and tall wadding birds at the lagoon including the rosette spoonbill.
In the rainforest you'll have an opportunity to see and photo graph the four species of monkey that live here; Howlers, the largest, Spider, Capuchin and the smallest, the Squirrel Monkey. Besides monkeys, costa Rica offers hundreds of different bird species including the ever present Scarlet Macaws.

Preparing for hikes: All hikes are on the local trail systems and are generally rated easy to moderate depending on individual physical condition. However, hiking in the heat can drain your energy faster than you may be used too. We recommend walking with a light day pack 2 to 3 times a week to prepare for hikes during the photo safari. If you should not be able to participate in a scheduled hike other photo opportunities are easily available. Our guides will assist in determining whether you are capable in participating in the hikes.
TRAVEL INSURANCE: While travel insurance is a individual choice we HIGHLY RECOMMEND purchasing travel insurance to cover any unforeseen event which may cause travel delays, cancellation or loses during your photo safari. Such loses are not the responsibility of Lookout Inn, Bosque Del Cabo or Nick Fucci Outdoor & Nature Photography. Purchasing insurance can help to provide a worry-free photo safari while your in Costa Rica.
